Koh Samui, Thailand
Ko Samui, Thailand’s second largest island, lies in the Gulf of
Thailand off the east coast of the Kra Isthmus. It's known for its
palm-fringed beaches, coconut groves and dense, mountainous rainforest,
plus luxury resorts and posh spas. The landmark 12m-tall golden Big
Buddha statue at Wat Phra Yai Temple is located on a tiny island
connected to Ko Samui by a causeway.
San Sebastián, Spain
San Sebastián is a resort town on the Bay of Biscay in Spain’s
mountainous Basque Country. It’s known for Playa de la Concha and Playa
de Ondarreta, beaches framed by a picturesque bayfront promenade, and
world-renowned restaurants helmed by innovative chefs. In its
cobblestoned old town (Parte Vieja), upscale shops neighbor vibrant
pintxo bars pairing local wines with bite-size regional specialties.

Auckland, based around 2 large harbours, is a major city in the
north of New Zealand’s North Island. In the centre, the iconic Sky Tower
has views of Viaduct Harbour, which is full of superyachts and lined
with bars and cafes. Auckland Domain, the city’s oldest park, is based
around an extinct volcano and home to the formal Wintergardens. Near
Downtown, Mission Bay Beach has a seaside promenade.
Madison, Wisconsin
Madison, the capital city of Wisconsin, lies west of Milwaukee.
It’s known for the domed Wisconsin State Capitol, which sits on an
isthmus between lakes Mendota and Monona. The Wisconsin Historical
Museum documents the state’s immigrant and farming history. The city's
paved Capital City State Trail runs past Monona Terrace, a lakefront
convention center designed by Frank Lloyd Wright.
Monterrey, Mexico
Monterrey, capital of the northeastern Mexican state of Nuevo
León, is a sprawling business and industrial center fringed by
mountains. It’s overlooked by the Palacio del Obispado, a storied
Baroque palace with a regional museum. Downtown lies the Macroplaza, a
vast green area of connected squares home to the striking Museo de Arte
Contemporáneo and the Faro de Comercio tower, which beams green lasers
into the sky.
